The San Mateo County Clerk Recorder –Elections and the Assessor department where combined by the vote of the people in 1933. The County Clerk performs civil marriages and issues marriage licenses. Various legal and business documents are located in this department including vital records of birth, death or marriage; fictitious business name statements; oaths of office and official bonds; powers of attorney; professional registrations; and, environmental impact reports.

The offices hours are from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The driving directions are as follows:
Going South on US-101: Take the Whipple Ave Exit. Continue straight going south on Veterans Blvd. Turn right onto Middlefield Road. We'll be on your right. Our office is in the corner of Middlefield Road and Bradford Street. Metered parking is available on the first floor of the County Government Center Garage and in front of the 555 County Center building.

Going North on US-101: Take the Woodside Road Exit. Turn right onto Veterans Blvd. Turn left onto Middlefield Road. We'll be on your right. Our office is in the corner of Middlefield Road and Bradford Street. Metered parking is available on the first floor of the County Government Center Garage and in front of the 555 County Center Building.
