The San Mateo County School District is composed of five kindergartens, thirty-three elementary and four high school districts, and, 190 teachers. It is reported that 5,000 student attended the county schools last year.

White Oaks Elementary School currently has 365 students enrolled from kindergarten through 4th grade. The school maintains a teacher-pupil ratio of 1:20 – 1:24 and has been around for more than 60 years. Currently, the school has a school psychologist, nurse, speech therapist, and music education specialists, besides its dedicated teachers and faculty. In addition, the school provides the students with two labs and a library that offers programs to elevate the students reading abilities.

Bayside Middle School is distinguished by its Special Recognition in the Arts and has been nominated to receive the prestigious National Blue Ribbon for Schools Program. The school concentrates in technology and is well know for the courses it offers in Graphic Design.

The San Mateo Union High School is the largest in the county. It opened on September 15, 1902, with an enrollment of 27 students. Today the School has an enrollment of approximately 1,425 students and is accredited by the Western Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. The school structure was model after the Henry VIII's Hampton Court in England and has a Performing Arts Center, which seats 1600. One of the most unique libraries in the county with an ornate fireplace and high ceilings is located within the campus. The students also benefit from the 32-station Internet lab and a computer stations that are installed in each classroom.
